workshop series
Inspired by one of the postural ailments of our time, back pain (specifically lower back pain), I developed a workshop designed to strengthen and increase mobility working towards a healthy and pain free spine.
Using backbending postures from classical yoga traditions and breaking down proper and healthy technique, this workshop emphasizes alignment and awareness with the goal of “waking up” the parts of the spine that are harder to access for each individual body.
Understanding the subtleties of the body and the way energy flows in a backbend allows us to safely access our range of motion while achieving a meditative state. Because the spine is intrinsically connected to the nervous system and energetically connected to the chakra system, healthy backbends result not only in better posture and overall health, but also more mobility, better brain-body connection, happier mood, and a clearer mind.
This series focuses on a healthy and safe approach to a backbending practice and is open and accessible to ALL LEVLES of practitioners and degrees of flexibility.
